Where You Will Be Fishing

You’ll be fishing on Lake Kuti and its adjacent canals, surrounded by breathtaking, untouched nature. There is more than enough water to explore, and it’s impossible to cover everything in a single trip.

However, we will provide you with a detailed map and recommend where to start to give you the best chance at landing truly trophy-sized fish.

The main canal feeding Lake Kuti is 30 to 80 meters wide, with a depth ranging from 1.5 to 11 meters (average depth around 4 m).
The other canals are shallower — between 1.5 and 4 meters deep.
The lake itself reaches a maximum depth of 7 meters, with an average of 3 meters.

Another excellent fishing area is the Mala Neretva River. While bites may be less frequent here, it’s a great place to catch quality fish over 50 cm. The river also offers chances to catch other predatory species such as zander, pike, and occasionally catfish.

What Species Can Be Found

Our main target species is the Black Bass, which thrives here in both high numbers and impressive sizes. Catches over 50 cm are common, and it’s not unrealistic to catch a specimen over 60 cm — a true trophy fish.

Thanks to ideal local conditions, the bass population is incredibly strong. In summer, you can often catch dozens in a single day.

Predatory species such as pike, zander, and in recent years also catfish (introduced from the Neretva River) are also present. These species are mainly found in the Mala Neretva River, but can also be caught in the lake and surrounding canals.

The river is also visited by Sea Bass, powerful fighters that migrate in from the delta. For targeted Sea Bass fishing, the delta itself is the best location.

Eel is also very abundant in both size and numbers.
Other common species include roach, crucian carp, chub, and common carp.

Recommended Gear

If you're looking for action-packed fishing, we recommend rods 1.9 m to 2.4 m in length with a casting weight up to 25 grams.

Ideal lures include:

  • Spinnerbaits
  • Chatterbaits
  • Wobblers (all types)
  • Soft plastics
  • Topwater lures

For frequent bites, use lures weighing 7 to 15 grams, around 10 cm in size.

If your goal is to catch a 60 cm trophy bass, we recommend a heavier rod with a casting weight of 30 to 40 grams, using:

  • Large topwater lures
  • Wobblers and soft plastics in 15–20 cm size
  • Heavy spinnerbaits or chatterbaits around 30 grams
